Johnny and Dr. John share a few stories
after the show.
Otis Rush and Johnny (on bass guitar)
share some last minute notes before the show. Johnny's regular bass
player fell ill that night.
"Hey Otis why don't you give me that old
guitar and buy a new one?" (smile)

and licks.
This was about 4:30 am in the morning
after a big concert that Otis Rush headlinded (Johnny supplied that
musician's for Otis' band). The Blasters were playing in town that
night too. Everybody met down at this little funky club after the
show. The doors were locked after last call (we didn't want the cops
to spoil our fun) and this jam was smokin'. Otis Rush on Guitar and
Vocals, Dr. John on Piano (you can't see him as he was playing to the
left of Johnny and was chopped out of the photo), Johnny V on Bass,
Jimmy Payne on Drums, Dave Alvin from the Blasters on Johnny's
Gretsch "Country Gentleman" Guitar. In the audience was famed saxman
Lee Allen (who was performing with the Blasters that night), The
Downchild Blues Band and about 100 very lucky people.
