Holger Petersen is a household name among the Canadian folk, roots, and blues music communities. He sits on the board of directors for SOCAN and hosts two great weekly blues radio programmes. For more than 25 years the CKUA radio network has broadcast his show "Natural Blues", heard Saturdays from 3:30pm - 5:30pm all across Alberta and his national CBC show, Saturday Night Blues, started broadcasting in 1986 and hasn't looked back. Holger was the artistic director for the Edmonton Folk Music Festival for many many years. Since the mid 1970s Holger has helped promote Canadian roots, traditional and blues music gain worldwide recognition and he's launched the careers of many Canadian artist's through his record label Stony Plain. A little trivia, he is a musician too (drummer), and although I've never had the pleasure to jam with him, I've been told he's got a good sense of time and rhythm. Hats off to Holger Petersen a great Canadian. Holger was recently awarded a doctorate from Athabasca University for his work in the promotion of Canadian Roots, Folk and Blues artists.
