Carter Place Food Bank Pickup Depot

Mandate

The Interfaith Food Bank Depot at 5000 - 11th St. SE delivers pre-ordered hampers for clients to our Parish Hall in the early mornings of days of operation, which are Tuesday to Friday, 10:00 to 11:30 a.m.

Typically there are between 7 and 20 clients per day with 2 volunteers on duty.

Volunteer Activities

On arrival, the volunteers firstly make a check of the name list delivered with the hampers and also check the perishable items in the fridge. They set up the table arrangement on which to present the hamper items to the clients.

Time Requirement

Two hours per shift, 9:45 to 11:45 a.m. to allow for setting up and clean up.

Special Skills Required

Volunteers must be able to communicate with clients who may not speak good English and be able to discuss special needs or dietary restrictions.

A satisfactory means of identification, usually by Alberta Health card number but also other methods, is employed. Volunteers must be prepared to maintain the dignity and privacy of the clients with good humour.
