Parking and Access

The Cathedral Church of the Redeemer is located in downtown Calgary at the corner of 7th Ave. and 1st St. SE, just across from Olympic Plaza and only one block from City Hall.

There is limited street parking on Sundays near the Cathedral but with road and building construction in the vicinity be sure to read and observe parking restrictions because vehicles will be ticketed for parking violations on Sundays.

If you can't find a parking place on Sunday mornings, probably your best choice would be in the Calgary Board of Education parking facility . There is a charge for parking here but it is not excessive and is significantly less than the cost of a parking ticket! (Loonies or toonies work best.)

At the moment, the lots which were available for complimentary parking on Sunday mornings are no longer available.

A number of other parking options exist within a block or two of the Cathedral:

  • Palliser Square - Enter from 9th Ave. eastbound between 1st St. SW and Centre St. or from 10th Ave. westbound at Centre St.
  • Telus Convention Centre - Enter from 1st SE southbound between 7th Ave. and 8th Ave. - just across the L.R.T. tracks from the Cathedral on the right ($4.00 for Sunday morning)
  • City Hall Parkade - Enter from 9th Ave. eastbound between Macleod Tr. and 3rd St. SE
  • City Hall surface lot - Enter from 3rd St. SE northbound at 8th Ave.
  • Calgary Board of Education - Enter from 5th Ave. eastbound between 1st St. and Macleod Tr. SE or from 6th Ave. westbound between Macleod Tr. and 1st St. SE. Hours: weekdays after 6:00 p.m.; Saturdays, Sundays and holidays all day; $1.00 / hour; $3.00 maximum per day.
  • Performing Arts Centre
  • Petro Canada Building
