E-mail has proven to be an essential communications tool for business and personal use and we have worked hard to continue to improve this service for our clients. Some of the features that we currently offer on all of our e-mail addresses at no additional charge are:
Virus-Scanning:
Utilizing leading-edge mail server technology from Vircom Inc., Nucleus has successfully implemented virus scanning on all incoming and outgoing messages to help better protect our clients from the threat of viruses,
which are being transmitted via e-mail. With the alarming number of viruses being written over the last few years, we felt it was necessary to offer some level of protection for all of our e-mail clients. This does not eliminate the need for a virus scanner on your machine it is simply an added layer of protection for your piece of mind.
SPAM (Junk E-mail) Filtering:
SPAM has also become a huge concern for our clients and we are working hard to address this epidemic. The mail server that we are currently using has the following SPAM defense built in:
- Prevents unauthorized use of the gateway
- Blocks scan attacks, and enforce authentication of users sending email via the mail server
- Limits the number of simultaneous connections
- Rejects connections from specified addresses or IP's
Our newest weapon in the fight against SPAM is our 24/7 Sieve-Based Anti-SPAM Filtering. Sieve is a proposed Internet language standard for mail filtering scripting. At the core, it is a simple yet powerful programming language tailor-made for mail filtering and provides unrivalled flexibility to discriminate between genuine messages and unsolicited bulk email.
With this new technology to aid in our fight against SPAM, we have recently joined the VASC (VOP Anti-Spam Coalition). All members of the coalition work hard on creating new sieve filtering lists which are shared amongst all members of the group. As of May 1, 2002 the VASC has successfully stopped 35,357,662 SPAM messages from being delivered. This is just the beginning, as more people join this coalition and help build these filtering lists, the more SPAM we will be able to stop.
Webmail:
Allowing our clients to access their e-mail through our Webmail facilities, which can be accessed through a normal web browser from anywhere in the world. This service allows our clients to stay in
touch with family, friends and associates without having to dial long distance to call home or to retrieve their mail. As long as you have access to the Internet, you can send, receive and reply to your messages using this service. If you do not delete the messages, they will still be waiting for you in your mailbox upon your return. We can also provide a branded solution for your corporate intranet. Contact us for details.
Forwards:
Tired of checking multiple e-mail addresses? We offer all of our e-mail clients the ability to forward any of their current e-mail addresses to an e-mail address of their choice. These can be added and removed at anytime through our online management tools.
Auto-Responders:
Auto-responders are a great way to let people know when you are not around to receive their messages. An auto-responder will automatically send a reply back to anyone that sends a message to your e-mail address. The message can offer further instructions, vacation information or simply a thank you message to notify the sender that you received the message. The message can be changed as often as you like and can be turned on and off at anytime through our online management tools.
SSL/TLS:
All nucleus.com email addresses support SSL/TLS for IMAP, POP3 and SMTP connections. This is available for our clients which have their own domain name through our sales department (additional fees do apply).
